Heavy rains to continue in parts of the country- Weatherman

Kenyans should brace for heavy rainfall in the next one week, the weatherman has cautioned.

In a weekly weather forecast released on Tuesday, December 5, the Kenya Meteorological Department has predicted continuous heavy downpour in parts of the Rift Valley, Lake Victoria basin, and the Coast region.

"Isolated storms and heavy rainfall are likely to occur over some parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, and the South-eastern lowlands," Kenya Met said.

However, the North-eastern and North-western Kenya will likely experience dry conditions.

In the Coastal parts of Kenya and North-Eastern and North-Western Kenya, an average maximum daytime temperature of more than 30 degrees will be experienced.

At night, the temperature in the mentioned areas will go to as low as negative 10°C.

Consequentially, some parts of the East of the Rift Valley will experience low average night-time (minimum) temperatures of less than 10 degrees.

The latest weather forecast comes ongoing rains and flooding in different parts of the country.

The rains have however decreased in the past week in most parts of Kenya, with floods reported in Voi, Tana River and Makueni areas.
